Shutter Precision PL-8 – Velocity Atlas 26″ Wheel Kit

Description

Show your 26er some real love with this Shutter Precision Dynamo / Velocity Atlas 26″ wheel.  Whether you love bike camping (or packing) or just cruising around town and want to light your way or charge a phone or battery bank, this wheel will serve you well.

This is yet another of our Weird Duck builds, meaning that this wheel works with more than one standard. The Shutter Precision PL-8 ships ready for 100mm / 9mm QR dropouts axles. Because you will be building this wheel around a disc brake hub, but lacing it to rim brake rim, it plays nicely with 80’s and 90s mountain bikes as well as more modern disc brake bikes.

Here’s whey we like this build:

• The Shutter Precision PL-8  is an affordable yet reliable dynamo hub.
• It’s beautiful, polished sliver.
• The  wheel will work well with both rim and disc brakes. If you have multiple bikes with QR dropouts that accept either standard, this wheel will work great with both.  We  chose the center-lock hub because it doesn’t look weird when the wheel is used in rim-brake mode.
• The 36 hole 26 inch Velocity Atlas rim is known for its strength and durability. Also, 36 hole wheels are more forgiving of building imperfections and make the wheel able to take more weight and abuse.
• We leaned into the silver parts because they look good.
• Premium Sapim Leader spokes are included to give the wheel extra durability . They have been custom cut to length just for this build.
