Description
This Shimano Alfine Dynamo Wheel Building Kit is built around the smooth, reliable DH-S501 36h dynamo hub, to generate battery-free power for bicycle lights and USB chargers. We paired this with a Sun Cr-18 700c polished rim.
We really like the Alfine hub for is well regarded durability and affordable price point. The CR-18 rim is considered a tried and true workhorse and comes in beautifully polished silver.
This DIY build kit is designed around the 36 hole 3-cross lacing pattern, as it is the standard for strength. 36 hole builds are also more forgiving of differences in spoke tension for first time builders and experts alike.
This is another of our Weird Duck builds. What that means is the this wheel will work with both rim brakes and disk brakes and is compatible with 9mm QR dropouts – 100 O.L.D. This is good because you get more bang for your buck, especially if you have multiple bikes or may switch bikes in the future. Also, the Alfine looks ust as good in rim or disc mode.
This wheel build kit comes with the Alfine hub – 36h, Sun Ringle CR-18 rim, Sapim Leader 14g spokes (custom cut), spoke nipples, rim tape – Ready to build.

Compatibility: Center-Lock Disc Brake – The CR-18 rim accepts rim brakes as well.
Be sure to order any extra parts / supplies you may need, including tools, spoke lubricant, center-lock to 6 bolt disc adapter.
Please note :
1. The CR-18 rim is not drilled or designed for tubeless setup. This wheel is intended for use with traditional clincher tires and inner tubes.
2. This kit does NOT come with a light or charger
