After searching around for inexpensive truing stands, we have chosen to offer this one. This stand is good and solid and it really does the job as well as anything else. It’s also a big quality-of-life improvement over using the bike forks or the frame to build and true a wheel.
Like most truing stands, this can be used to dish the wheel, by flipping it and comparing the difference in distance between the drive-side to the non-drive-side of the wheel.
If you plan to use this with one of our thru axle builds, be sure to buy one of our 12mm axle adapters, either this one or that one. This will adapt the hub to to fit this stand which is designed for QR hubs. Also you can use them to make 12mm thru axle hubs compatible with QR dropout.
You may need to attach it to a work bench or a small board to make it more stable.
