A tension meter, while not strictly necessary, can be a valuable tool to find spokes that are either too tight or too loose. A wheel built without one can come out out pretty good. But it&#8217;s\u00a0 nice to have that tension data. This is the same meter. we use for our builds. We like it because it&#8217;s affordable, durable, and gives consistent readings between spokes.\u00a0 The difference between it and other more well known brands has to do with the tension spring, which may not be as accurate against tension charts. If you are a pro-wheel builder, you may want something with more reliable calibration.
