We offer a small selection of curated do-it-yourself wheel building kits, each comprised of a rim, spokes cut to the correct length, nipples and rim tape. Every kit has been vetted through an actual build and real world testing, and each combination of components is chosen to offer both value and longevity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been said that wheel building is as much of an art as it is a science. Building your own wheel can be fun and rewarding, but it can also be challenging… and maybe a little frustrating. We think everyone with the right knowledge and motivation can put together a decent wheel. But if you’re simply looking to save a few bucks and aren’t interested in the process itself, or you aren’t into putting in the time to learn proper technique to build a safe durable wheel, these kits aren’t for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But if you’ve ever wanted to give wheel building a try, or you already have experience and just want a strong hand-laced wheel built from affordable quality components that you know will work together, you’re in the right place. We’re the only source for mid-range wheel building kits in this form, which means no spoke calculations, no second-guessing compatibility, just parts that are ready to build.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course you don’t have to buy from us. Some of you intrepid folks may want to go down the rabbit hole and design your own custom build, spoke calculations and all. If that’s you, head over to our wheel building basics post where you’ll find resources we find particularly useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One more thing: we’re keen on aesthetics. In our opinion, polished silver components make a bike more beautiful, so we stock the shiny stuff whenever we can. The industry has its own ideas about this. We try to push back on the old adage that has become the new paradigm “You can have any color you want, as long as it’s black.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
